OSA 22-23 Recap

OSA VIsion
One Step Ahead Mentorship (OSA) envisions a self-sustaining community in which students support and empower each other within and beyond the program. OSA pairs and families will cultivate academic, professional, and holistic growth within its members, utilizing community investment to foster individual development.
WHAT IS mentorship?
Mentorship is the sharing of knowledge and support, perceived as relevant to academic, professional, and holistic growth and development. Note that nowhere does it say that mentorship is strictly between the mentor and the mentee, but it’s an entire effort between all community members; when we think about all these ideas and what they really mean to mentorship, they’re really most effective when everyone in the community buys in to each other. OSA is comprised of Families, which are groups of mentors, mentees, and family members, all led by a few Family Heads. We utilize the mentorship program instead of "Ate/Kuya" because we seek to transcend the younger/older sibling dynamic, highlighting community and we hope to maintain focus on retention along with the social aspect.
